چکیده

Co-products from distillation of cereal grains for alcohol production have been available to poultry and livestock producers for many years. Although the co-products were considered better suited for ruminants because of their relatively high fiber content, Morrison (1954) suggested that chick diets could contain up to 7% or 8% distillers grains and that diets for laying hens could contain up to 10% distillers grains without affecting performance. No adverse effects on growth performance of broiler chicken or egg production of laying hens were detected when diets with up to 20% distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) from beveragealcohol production were fed (Matterson, Tlustohowicz, and Singsen, 1966; Waldroup et al., 1981), although the feed utilization of broilers tended to decrease when 25% corn DDGS was included in the diet (Waldroup et al., 1981). In addition to being a source of protein and energy, distillers grains were especially useful as a source of the water-soluble vitamins before chemical synthesis and commercialization of vitamins (Morrison, 1954; Matterson, Tlustohowicz, and Singsen, 1966).

Chapter 4 use of distiLLers Co - produCts in diets fed to swine

Distillers co-products have been used in swine feeding for more than fifty years, but the emergence of the fuel ethanol industry during the last few decades has dramatically increased the total quantities of distillers co-products that are available to the livestock and poultry industries. New technologies have also allowed the industry to convert a greater proportion of the carbohydrates in th...

Productive Performance of Laying Hens Fed Different Levels of Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles with or without Certain Feed Additives

The objective of this work was to evaluate the inclusion of distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) as substitution for soybean meal in Hisex Brown laying hen diets with or without enzyme or vitamin E supplementation on productive performance. A total number of 180 Hisex Brown laying hens at 26 weeks of age were randomly divided into 15 treatment groups in a 5 × 3 factorial design experime...

Live production and carcass characteristics of broilers fed a blend of poultry fat and corn oil derived from distillers dried grains with solubles.

Corn distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) are now being further processed to remove corn oil, which may be used as a dietary energy source for poultry. The objectives of this study were to compare the effects of a poultry fat (PF) and a new DDGS-derived corn oil blend (CO) on live performance and carcass characteristics of 49-d-old broilers. Four corn-soybean meal based diets were formu...

The Efficacy of Plant based Diets on Growth Potential, Energy Utilization, Nutrient Digestibility, Leg Bone Development and Litter Quality of Meat Chickens

Both plant and animal ingredients are used commonly to formulate balanced diets for poultry. Although many changes have been occurred in the genetics, nutrition and feeding of modern meat chickens, free selection and indiscriminate uses of feedstuffs for the non-ruminant animal diets can be hazardous due to the emerging threat of diseases outbreak via animal by-products. Besides this, many othe...

Alternative Feed Ingredients for Pigs

Largely due to the demand for grains for the bio-fuel industry, the cost of feed energy will increase worldwide. Therefore, alternative energy supplying pig feed ingredients should be explored, including distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS), field peas, wheat shorts and liquid co-products from the bio-fuel and food industry. The inclusion of DDGS in diets is limited by the fiber concent...
